If you haven't seen the movie Oblivion yet, I won't ruin it for you. Without giving away anything major, the movie is set in the year 2077 and gives you a glimpse of what a post apocalyptic world might look like through visuals of landmarks in New York, Washington D.C., and other famous cities. When Tom Cruise's character stops at the stadium in what once was New Jersey, he relives the greatest moment of the last Super Bowl that was ever played, at MetLife Stadium. In the dialogue, he talks about the 80,000 fans that were in attendance. In reality, MetLife Stadium holds 80,000 fans. As the scene comes to a close, Tom Cruise slips on a New York Yankees baseball cap, and exits the field.
Strangely enough, in the 1977 film Black Sunday which runs 2 hours and 23 minutes long, the terrorist organization who intends to bomb the Super Bowl also wants to kill 80,000 people. That film was released 3/11/77. This year's Super Bowl will be hosted by the third and eleventh states, New Jersey and New York, at MetLife Stadium. It should be noted, the number 223, is the number 322 backwards. This number is shown as the football stadium explodes in The Dark Knight Rises, which was released the same year as Oblivion.
With that said, let us hope that Oblivion is only a work of fiction.
